Doctors of the World

Dr Elizabeth Bates is a GP in Birmingham and Doctors of the World GP Champion for the West Midlands. She has a clinical interest in Migrant Health and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching on this subject at the University of Birmingham.

She is an Associate GP at Cape Hill Medical Centre,  a GP practice in Smethwick with a very diverse patient population and as part of her role she works at the Homeless Health Exchange practice in central Birmingham. In her role with Doctors of the World UK she has helped establish the  Safe Surgeries Initiative in the region – a network of practices committed to an inclusive and protective approach to GP registration. Her ambition is to develop and further establish the network across the West Midlands ( and the UK) and to support practices committed to this approach to patient registration to ensure access to Primary Healthcare for everyone.
