Dr Daisy Higginson
GP
Edinburgh Access Practice
Daisy undertook her medical degree at Edinburgh University, staying in Edinburgh to finish her foundation training. Following this she completed the East Africa Diploma in Tropical Medicine based between academic faculties in Tanzania and Uganda. This led her to take on a role in GUM/ HIV medicine in Soho, London, where she started to develop an interest in working with marginalised communities in the UK. Having always planned to progress to General Practice training, she moved on to complete her GP programme in Hackney, London. During her training she was further exposed to working within areas of deprivation and this influenced her decision to apply for the Health Inequality Fellowship in Edinburgh on moving back to Scotland. As part of her role as the Health Inequalities fellow she regularly undertakes Outreach work within the homeless population alongside her Pharmacist colleague which has generated the work presented today
