Denise is a nurse lecturer in the School of Nursing and Human Sciences in DCU. She has both clinical and research experience in the area of sexual health and is interested in how sexual health affects physical and mental wellbeing and vice versa. She was awarded a Doctorate in Health from University of Bath and her thesis was a narrative study about mothering while HIV positive. She currently lectures on a variety of modules in DCU including health and marginalisation, sexual health and sexuality in nursing & mental health nursing. She is part of a national research project exploring the experiences of teachers, parents and students of RSE (Sex education) in Irish secondary schools. Additionally, she is supervising a PhD exploring the post diagnosis experiences of women with HIV.hosis, and mental health in marginalized groups.
