Josephine Ensign is professor of nursing and adjunct professor in the School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. Ensign is director of the Doorway Project community wellness café in Seattle for homeless young people. She is the author of the medical memoir Catching Homelessness: A Nurse’s Story of Falling Through the Safety Net, winner of the American Journal of Nursing 2017 Book of the Year Award, and author of the health humanities book Soul Stories: Voices from the Margins, published by the University of California Medical Humanities Press.
