Lee Ball
Director of Addictions, The Salvation Army
Lee Ball is the Director of Addiction for The Salvation Army, leading work across the UK and Ireland to create compassionate, evidenceinformed environments where people can flourish. With over two decades of experience in social care and addiction, Lee’s practice has been shaped by his early work alongside young people who had experienced profound trauma and instability.
His leadership is grounded in the understanding that meaningful change depends not just on what we do, but on the mindsets, relationships, and environments we create around people. Lee draws on attachment principles and traumainformed practice to explore how safety, consistency, and connection form the foundations for children and adults to thrive.
Rather than focusing solely on individual behaviour, Lee emphasises how systems themselves can support, or limit, human potential. He works to build cultures where dignity, belonging, and relational stability are embedded into everyday practice.
Lee contributes to national work developing training, frameworks, and evidenceinformed resources that bring together lived experience, attachment theory, trauma understanding, and practical tools. His aim is always to help services create the kind of environments where freedom, kindness, and genuine flourishing become possible.
