Sally Higgins
Mental Health Nurse, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Sally Higgins is a mental health nurse by background and has been working in Leeds mental health services since 2021. In her current role, she works within the sex worker outreach team of Forward Leeds, the citywide drug and alcohol service. This is an innovative new role within a dual diagnosis team, providing an outreach approach designed to reach a highly stigmatised and often isolated group. The role aims to assess the mental health needs of sex workers in active addiction, support and facilitate access to appropriate mental health services and allow them to develop and understand coping skills, safety planning and psychoeducation. Sally is passionate about advocating for vulnerable service users and empowering them to recognise their strengths and use their voice. Sally also strives to support clients and other professionals in understanding the differences between sex work and sexual exploitation
