Dr Marianne McCallum

GP Health Inequality Fellow

NHS Education for Scotland/Hunter Street Homeless Health Services

Dr McCallum works as a GP in a deprived “Deep End” practice in Paisley, just outside Glasgow. She also works as a GP Clinical Academic Fellow at the University of Glasgow Department of General practice and Primary Care where her research interests include reducing methods to reduce health inequity, multimorbidity (particularly in areas of social deprivation) and marginalised patient groups.

From August 2016-17 she completed a year as NHS Education for Scotland (NES) Health Inequality Fellow. This involved working part-time as a GP at a specialist multidisciplinary health service that serves the homeless population within Glasgow. Concurrently, she worked at NES undertaking projects on developing Quality Improvement educational resources for GPs, and exploring the views of GPs practising in deprived areas on optimising GP speciality training.
