Professor Sir Harry Burns, Professor of Global Public Health at Strathclyde University where he pursues his interest in understanding how societies create wellness.
Prior to this, he was Director of Public Health for Greater Glasgow Health Board, where his research focussed on the problems of social determinants of health and fromĀ 2005 until 2014, Dr Burns served as Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, where his responsibilities included public health policy.
He also recently chaired the Scottish Government’s Review into Targets for Health and Social Care.
