Yassan Osman
Support Worker
Ashford Place
Yassin Osman made the journey of so many in the last few years, fleeing a brutal dictatorship and making the long arduous journey across Europe towards Calais at the height of the refugee crisis.
After smuggling his way to the UK, he was placed in accommodation provided by the Home Office. However, like so many, once he was granted asylum he was told he could no longer stay, and became homeless.
However, Yassin soon found our services, and stayed in our temporary accommodation for three months. During that time, he developed his English language skills, got into college, and received advice on resettlement.
Eventually, we managed to accommodate him in our supported housing project. He then immediately underwent our training programme to become a peer support volunteer, and since then has been providing night cover every Saturday. This will greatly help Yassin with his next step, finding secure and stable accommodation.
