Dr Peter Cockersell is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Trainer, and Organisational Consultant specialising in psychotherapy and psychosocial interventions with people experiencing homelessness or other forms of social exclusion, histories of compound trauma, and ‘complex needs’. He is currently lecturing in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice on the Counselling Psychology doctoral programme at University of Surrey, consulting to various homelessness and psychiatric organisations in Britain, Ireland, Luxembourg and Italy, supervising psychotherapy in the private and third sectors and the NHS, and providing psychotherapy in private practice. Peter previously worked for St Mungo’s for over 20 years, most recently as Director of Health & Recovery; he was also one of the co-authors of the DCLG-sponsored national guidance on Psychologically Informed Environments, published in 2011. Peter is the author of various articles and book chapters, and is currently editing a book on psychotherapy and psychosocial interventions with homeless people. (144 words)
