Marg Smeaton, Health Services Manager, Mission Hospice and Wendy Muckle, Founder, Inner City Health from Ottawa, Canada will speak on ‘End of life: providing integrated palliative care to homeless people’
Wendy is one of the founders of Inner City Health and has knowledge of the beginnings and the operations of Inner City Health as a whole. Marg has been with the hospice for 13 years and was involved in the opening of the primary care clinic. Her experience is very much hands on.
Between them they will present an excellent overview of what delivering services to the homeless in Ottawa looks like.
Ottawa Inner City Health is a program which was created by the organizations, including Mission Hospice, who serve the homeless in Ottawa. In the summer of 1998 a group of managers who operated programs for the homeless met to discuss growing concerns about the health needs of people who were chronically homeless. In 2011 OICH celebrated its 10th anniversary.
