Alongside his work for Pathway Alex is Chief Operating Officer of the NHS Staff College, an initiative designed to bring values-based leadership development to the NHS. He is a visiting fellow at the Institute of Health and Human Development at the University of East London and Chair of the campaign group My Fair London. A career of 18 years in London Government culminated with five years as a special advisor to the Mayor of London (between 2004 and 2009). For the Mayor he was first the planning and development and then health policy advisor. While in the Mayor’s Office he led a wide range of projects: chairing London’s European Social Fund and European Regional Development Funds, launching the East London Green Grid, leading the development of London’s first health inequalities strategy, and overseeing the first major ‘alterations’ to the London Plan, bringing concerns with climate change to the centre of London planning policy. Alex is a member of the Faculty of Public Health, holds a Masters in London Studies and a Degree in History. He lives in East London.
