Gerry joined Groundswell in 2010 as an HHPA volunteer, starting the Health Promotion In-Reach sessions in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and supporting clients to attend health appointments. In 2012 she became a Project Worker assisting with the Find and Treat Mobile Health Unit Peer Educator Project, until May 2015 when she was promoted to Case Worker and took over running the project. This was her first paid position since returning from overseas in 2003.

Gerry was street homeless and suffered from alcohol addiction and went into treatment in 2008 she now uses her experiences to help others.
