Mark Easton is BBC News Home Editor, heading the ‘UK Specialists Unit’ as well as broadcasting regularly on television, radio and online. His first book ‘Britain etc.’ was published in 2012 and a paperback edition produced in 2013.  His blog, ‘Mark Easton’s UK’, was a finalist at the prestigious Online Journalism Awards presented in San Francisco.  He has also won a number of awards for his television documentaries and news reports including the Royal Statistical Society award for statistical excellence in 2009 and 2010.

Mark’s role is to provide expert analysis and broad perspective on the issues and stories affecting modern Britain, chronicling the impact of rapid demographic, technological, economic and global change.

In 2005 he wrote and presented a series of television documentaries, “The Happiness Formula”, which studied the growth and impact of the politics of well-being.

Before taking up his current post, Mark was Home and Social Affairs Editor at Channel 4 Television and Political Editor at Channel 5 television.  He is married with four children and lives in North London.
