Pathway
With Professor Aidan Halligan and Dr Nigel Hewett, Alex helped to found Pathway in 2009 and became its first Chief Executive. In 2016 Pathway was awarded the Kate Granger Award for Compassionate Care. An 18 year career in London Government culminated in five years as a senior advisor to the Mayor of London (between 2004 and 2009). While in the Mayor’s Office he led on both planning and development and then health policy as well as overseeing a wide range of projects: London’s European Social Fund and European Regional Development Funds, leading the East London Green Grid, the development of the UK’s first statutory health inequalities strategy, and overseeing the first major ‘alterations’ to the London Plan, bringing concerns with climate change to the heart of London planning policy. Alex is a member of the Faculty of Public Health, holds a Masters in London Studies and a Degree in History. He is currently chair of the equality campaign group My Fair London and a trustee of The Staff College: Leadership in Healthcare.
