Alison Skelton

Alison qualified as a registered nurse in 2002 where she started work as a staff nurse working in elderly medicine. Following this Alison worked in the community sector both within community nursing and general practice.

In 2009 Alison advanced on to a further role in the community undertaking the title of Community palliative care sister, delivering palliative care to patients deemed to be in the end stages of life requiring support both physically and psychologically.

Alison was then successful in attaining specialist respiratory qualifications and worked as a Respiratory Nurse Specialist within the acute trust developing the Early Supported Discharge Service (ESDS), COPD care bundle and COPD self-management plans.

In 2015 Alison commenced a new role as a Clinical Nurse Educator and within this looked at how specialist palliative care services could be more accessible for vulnerable groups including the homeless and vulnerably housed population in which this work continues to develop.

Alison now works as Senior Sister for a local community hospice team, supporting individuals at the end of life in the community setting.
